-September 2011 I got CT Scans of my neck and chest and met with my oncologist. Praise the Lord I am still healed and in the clear!

-September 2009 I had something show up on a CT scan in the summer that prompted my oncologist to send me to an Ear, Nose, Throat Specialist. It was not cancer, but I did end up getting my tonsils removed-not a pleasant experience but I'm thankful to have recovered and to deal with far fewer illnesses since then!

-Wednesday, October 31 I had my first post-chemo / radiation check up this morning and they said I'm now officially in remission, so good news. The CT scan looked normal and the blood work was fine. So I'm good to go. Thanks everyone for you continued prayers! We're thankful for God's mercy and healing.

-Thursday, October 11 I have my first post-radiation checkup next week. So if anyone is still checking this, I'd certainly appreciate your continued prayers. While the cancer is largely off my mind, I find myself often checking my neck for any signs of return. Hopefully the CT scan will show everything is fine and good and normal and that will continue to lessen my concern. I'll try to make sure and post the outcome (maybe even more CT scan photos if you're lucky ;) )

-Tuesday, August 21 So, Dan didn't get his 1,000,000 more DONE's entered, but he DID get successfully complete his doctorate degree at U of M. Congrats to him, now officially Dr. Daniel Coughlin, AND he's full swing into law school now. Thankfully we had a wonderful 1 1/2 weeks together between those milestones and now we're patiently waiting for Nov. 11 to get here so I can "help" him study :) At least cutting down phone/internet talk time and travel time will be a help, right?!

As Dan said, God has been so good to him through his cancer treatments and thank you to EVERYONE who prayed for him. His cancer treatment has been successful and he will have regular 3 mo. check up for a while to make sure no bad cells reappear. The 'promised' radiation burn & hair loss did finally show up in the path of the radiation, but thankfully the worst of the burn is fading (yes, Dan, you're welcome for the aloe treatments!!) and someday his hair will grow back too! Until then, he only has to shave half his face and I think his half scruffy, half no-hair look is pretty cute :) I updated the pictures to show his radiation mask that was used to immobilize him for treatments and a cute picture showing his unique hair growth! We'll do our best to keep this updated as each follow-up appointment comes and goes, Lord willing with a "you're healthy" checkout each time! Oh yes, the rest of his hair that was not in the path of radiation is growing back excellent AND the energy level of post-chemo Dan definitely out-lasts me :) ~Tami

-Wednesday, July 18 DONE DONE DONE DONE DONE DONE DONE DONE DONE DONE DONE DONE DONE. That was it, the last radiation therapy appointment. Next week I'm going to add 1,000,000 more dones when my defense (Wednesday, August 1) is over! But for now I'm happy to be done with treatments. God's been so good to me throughout this. The radiation has barely had an effect (I just have a strange sunburn looking thing on my neck / chin). That's it. But thank you all for your support and prayers, they've meant so much over the last few months.

-Wednesday, July 18 This week is FLYING by. 1) Radiation is going great. 10 down, 7 to go. Really, besides a dry throat / mouth, the only inconvenience is walking down to the hospital every day at 2:15. 2) My dissertation is due on Friday! I'm working 'round the clock on it (even got some help from my lovely assistant *read: fiance* last night on formating excel files). It's going great but I'm looking forward to it being OVER. 3) We set a final wedding date. Go to www.danandtami.net and see if you can figure it out.

-Thursday, July 5 1 radiation down, 16 to go. The radiation treatment itself isn't so bad. I get immobilized on to a table and then hear some clicking noises and then I'm done. That's it. My voice sounds a little rough, choppy. And my throat, it feels like I slept in a dry room overnight. Nothing unbearable, but I probably won't be singing on Sunday (not that I usually sing well anyways!). It's just so nice being done with chemotherapy and on to something different. Thanks for keeping up with me and all the prayers and comments.

-Friday, June 29 Another quick update. My brave fiance met with his radiation dr. yesterday morning and found out he'll be having 18 radiation sessions starting July 5. He was told to expect some minor skin pigment alterations and hair loss in the direct path of the radiation as well as more fatigue *sigh*, but hopefully come mid to end August, he'll start feeling like his old self again! The good thing, we know God will continue to be in control and heal his body and we ALWAYS have hope for a better tomorrow! This weekend he is traveling to Champaign to visit me and his comment to me on the phone after a couple hours on the road "It feels good to be in the driver's seat again instead of the passenger!" Thanks and praise to God for small things :) That's what we're trying hard to do. Thanks to everyone for your prayers and please keep them going to God for His healing & protective hand on Dan!! How special that we can communicate with Him directly through Jesus Christ! We appreciate each one of you. ~Tami

-Tuesday, June 12 -So Dan had his post chemo check up today and the doctor says everything looks great! His blood counts are still low as expected, but they should continue to improve. His lymph nodes are back to normal and his lungs had no damage from the chemo. Praise God for His healing hand! He will see his radiation dr. on Thursday and will find out his radiation schedule. At this point, it looks like he'll be doing 3 weeks of daily radiation. A really cool verse I found during the early part of our engagement is Daniel 10:18-19 "Then there came again and touched me one like the appearance of a man, and he strengthened me, and said, O man greatly beloved, fear not: peace be unto thee, be strong, yea, be strong. And when he had thus spoken unto me, I was strengthened, and said, Let me lord speak; for thou hast strengthened me." Thanks to all of you for your prayers during chemo and we'll appreciate them through radiation as well.

-Tuesday, June 12 - While Dan is sleeping, I [Tami] thought I'd take advantage of this moment to give an update on Dan's last chemo treatment! He did well today and got a very positive report on his blood cell counts. Here is my very non-technical report so please forgive the layman terms :) His white blood count was 3.5 (4 is normal) & his neutrophil count is in the normal range as well! His nurse spoke very positively and excitedly of his progress and reaction to his chemo treatments, which makes us excited! We are praying and hoping that these next weeks of radiation are the end of this journey! Thanks for everyone for your prayers and support!

-Tuesday, June 12 - My LAST scheduled chemo treatment is today. In about three weeks I will start a month worth of radiation therapy. I am so excited to be done with chemotherapy though. Tami is in town to sit with me through the last treatment. But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you. 1 Peter 5:10

-Thursday, May 31 - Note from Tami: Dan is very brave with his chemo and cancer but most importantly he draws his strength from the Lord. Isaiah 40:29-31 describes him best: "He [God] giveth power to the weak: and to them that have no might he increaseth strength. Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fail: But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength: they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint." I am humbled and honored to be his finacee and share this trial of cancer with him. I am glad for the opportunity to take some time off work and be here with him during chemo and recovery. Thanks to all my family who has already accepted Dan as a son, brother and also into the extended family. Thanks most of all for including him and us in your prayers. Please keep the prayers rising to our Father's throne for His healing touch on Dan! -Wednesday, May 30 - I had my second to last chemo treatment yesterday. Only ONE more to go. And this one was extra special (having my mom or dad with me for the other ones was definitely special). Tami took some time off work to come and sit with me for the treatments. So far this treatment has been going really well.

U of M timed Dan's follow-up appointment with Dr. Ahmed and Grandma Edie's treatment appointment perfectly for the same morning on the same day! We split up our drive to Ohio by staying at Neal & Kim's which is about halfway. As always, the cousin time was fun! Then we pit-stopped at good friends' Keith & Emily's to catch up as we hadn't seen them since we left Magdalena. We arrived at our new condo around noon on Monday but first grabbed some lunch at a random restaurant in the town before Maumee--which consequently has turned out to be one of our favorite restaurants!!
